Beginning Reading

COURSE DESCRIPTION

  본 과정은 짧은 이야기를 통해서 다양한 어휘와 문법, 발음 등을 폭넓게 배우는 과정입니다. 특히 전치사에 대한 이해와 대명사에 대해 자세하게 공부하게 됩니다. 부사 및 형용사를 통해 보다 풍부하고 정확한 문장을 만드는 법을 공부하고, 문장을 정확한 발음으로 자연스럽게 읽기 위한 발음, 억양, 강세 등을 자연스럽게 익히게 됩니다. 또한 이야기의 내용에 대한 이해와 더불어 연관된 단어들을 함께 배우는 방식으로 단순 암기가 아닌 상황에 필요한 어휘력을 강화하고 한번 배운 어휘는 쉽게 잊지 않게 되어 영어 학습의 능률을 극대화합니다.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

  영어에 대한 기초가 있으나 영어를 본격적으로 활용한 읽기, 말하기 등에 대한 실력이 갖추어지지 않은 학생들에게 적합한 수준의 강의입니다. 대략 1년 정도 영어 공부했거나 그 이상했더라도 체계적으로 배우지 못해 실력이 잘 늘지 않는 학생에게 효과적인 수업입니다.

COURSE LENGTH

  본 과정은 총 12개의 Lesson으로 구성되어 있으며, 매주 2개 정도의 Lesson이 진행됩니다. 전체 수업은 6~8주 정도이지만, 학생들의 참여도에 따라 더 빠르게 진행될 수도 있고 천천히 진행될 수 있습니다.

Curriculum

  • Review the words: green, pink, blue.
  • Review the sight words: of, from, to, his, her.
  • Introduce the sight word “hers.”
  • Review the sight word “their.”

    Review sight words “me” and “my” and introduce sight word “mine.”
  • Review the sight words: now, will, for.
  • Introduce /or/ words: horn, corn, unicorn.
  • Introduce /sh/ words: ship, shop, shoe, short.
  • Introduce the word “long.”
  • Introduce /ur/ word “fur.”
  • Review contraction “it’s.”
  • Introduce possessive form of “its.”
  • Compare the words: where, there, here.
  • Introduce contraction “here’s.”
  • Review the sight words “this” and “that.”
  • Introduce the sight words “these” and “those.”
  • Review the sight words: how, many, are, look.
  • Review /oo/ sound as in “book.”
  • Review /or/ sound as in “work.”
  • Introduce the word “costume.”
  • Multiple choice, fill in the blank and matching for vocabulary review and reading comprehension.
  • Continue practice of putting words in a proper order to make a sentence. Now, students must choose correct grammar to complete the sentence.
  • Review vocabulary words with a long “u” sound by matching.

  • Introduce sight word, “here.”
  • Review prepositions of place: near, far from, in, over, under, above, below, on, behind, in front of, next to, between.

  • Introduce the following /wor/ words: word, work, world.
  • Review “ball” and teach additional /all/ words:  call, wall, fall, tall, small.
